James Sibley

James, 24, is an aquaculture educator, content creator, and science communicator. He primarily produces video content for TikTok, Instagram, and LinkedIn, as well as written articles, podcast appearances, and more. James' content often focuses on aquaculture, but he talks about fisheries too. By collaborating with companies in the industry and visiting farms and manufacturers alike, he brings modern aquaculture to light in an engaging, proactive way.

To date, James has nearly half a million online followers, and his videos have accumulated about a quarter of a billion views, making him one of the aquaculture industry's most prominent influencers. James collaborates with all facets of the industry, from technologies to feeds to farms globally, to produce unique content.

Until August 2023, James managed his channels in conjunction with his undergraduate courses. He graduated from Northeastern University, right here in Boston, with a degree in genetic biology. After graduating, he consolidated all his influencer work under Sibley Media; James’ company provides influencer marketing, content creation, and digital strategies to the aquaculture industry. He is currently working to expand his presence on Instagram and LinkedIn as these platforms become more video-friendly.

While James’ content has evolved since those first videos as a fishmonger, his mission has not. Today’s social media is filled with seafood and aquaculture misinformation, and with the vast majority of people around the world using these platforms regularly, this is having serious legislative and consumer-trending consequences. James aims to flip this narrative and engage consumers in their food chain so that they can have the knowledge to enjoy seafood with confidence. He believes that social media is one of the best ways to bridge this gap if used correctly.
