Matt Swanson is a Managing Director and the Deputy General Counsel of Proterra Investment Partners, a global alternative asset manager focused on investing in food and agriculture. He is one of the leaders of the firm’s credit strategy that specializes in lending to middle-market food and beverage companies. Prior to joining Proterra, he worked at Wayzata Investment Partners, a private equity firm focused on distressed debt, direct lending, and special situations. Matt began his career at the law firm of Latham & Watkins and subsequently worked at several other law firms where he represented borrowers and lenders in a variety of financing, restructuring and M&A-related engagements.
Matt has an LLM in Food and Agriculture from the University of Arkansas, an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, a JD from the University of Southern California, and a BA from the University of Michigan
