I’ve been working for Vital Choice® Wild Seafood & Organics for 14 years, primarily in the capacity of new product development and seafood sourcing. From its inception, Vital Choice has been committed to offering only sustainably sourced seafood, so I’ve spent much of my tenure cultivating my knowledge of the MSC. Learning in depth about the process of how a fishery achieves MSC certification has been a highlight of my role at Vital Choice. Once I grasped the level of detail and scrutiny of every aspect of the fishery that could be observed and measured, I was hooked (pun intended).

Vital Choice’s first MSC certificate dates back to 2001. And, as far as we know, our wild sockeye salmon oil dietary supplement was the first of its kind to be MSC certified. A true highlight for Vital Choice (and for me) was receiving the MSC U.S. Ocean Champion Award for 2021. That recognition was a true reflection of the company culture and our genuine commitment to supporting sustainable fisheries and beyond.
