Daphne Guelker

Daphne is a part-time PhD student at the University of Bristol researching ‘The Protection of Distant Water Fishers in International Law’. She is a non-practising barrister (Middle Temple) and holds a first class joint LLB in Law and Human Rights from the University of Essex.

Daphne leads UL Responsible Sourcing’s Advisory Services team where she advises companies in the areas of human rights, labour practices and raw materials traceability. Daphne’s expertise focuses on strategy, program development and customised research and she works with clients to conduct human rights due diligence, including through risk identification and advising on ongoing monitoring and capacity building approaches. Her work spans a broad range of industries including agriculture and fishing, extractive industries, and retail and consumer, and across multiple regions.

Daphne supports the NGO Human Rights at Sea where she has developed publications addressing business and human rights in the at-sea context and she sits on MarinTrust’s Social and Ethical Committee as an expert adviser. Daphne is fluent in English, German and Spanish.
