Dr. McGuigan completed his Ph.D. from the University of Miami in October, 2023. His dissertation, titled "Physiology and Development of Northern Red Snapper, Lutjanus campechanus, Through Ontogeny," explored a host of the relevant topics related to the commercial development of the aquaculture industry surrounding red snapper, an iconic species in the southeastern United States, Gulf of Mexico, and Caribbean. He is currently working in an advisory capacity for multiple nascent companies seeking to develop commercial operations around the species. He also serves as the Curator of Biological Programs at the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science in Miami, FL, where he oversees biological collections, the larval fish program, and the design and operation of life support systems.
