Melissa Karadana

Melissa Karadana is a Programme Lead at the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI), specialising in responsible purchasing practices (RPP). She has worked on RPP-related projects across food, mined minerals and metals, and apparel and textiles, supporting companies to review purchasing practices, strengthen buyer–supplier engagement, and improve labour conditions and human rights using the Common Framework for Responsible Purchasing Practices. She is currently leading a project on purchasing practices in the shrimp sector, working with retailers to examine how commercial decision-making impacts suppliers and workers. 

Previously, Melissa spent over six years in the textile industry across China, Turkey and Southeast Asia. She then moved into the development sector, leading programmes on girls’ education, women’s economic empowerment, and gender-responsive procurement across global supply chains.
