Richard Stavis is an internationally acknowledged seafood thought leader and innovator with over thirty-five years in the commercial seafood and sustainability communities functioning in executive, purchasing, sales, and sustainability roles. This experience has given him insight into harvesting, farming, processing, and product standards as well as connections to many in both the seafood and seafood sustainability communities.
Richard has over 30 years experience in the Seafood industry, most recently as CEO (1992-2018) and Chief Sustainability Officer (2018-2021) of Stavis Seafoods. Richard is Board Chair for FishWise, Board Vice-Chair for the Conservation Alliance for Seafood Solutions, and a Trustee of Human Rights at Sea. He was the Sustainable Fisheries Partnerships’ Squid Supplier Roundtable’s first Industry Chairperson. Richard is a regular conference speaker at Seafood Expo North America, where he creates, develops and moderates panels on an annual basis. Richard has spoken at other conferences, including the Seafood Expo Global, Seafood Expo Asia, the Sea Ahead Global BlueTech Conference, the World Ocean Conference Sustainable Ocean Summit, the United Nations Oceans Conference, and Capitol Hill Oceans Week (CHOW).
