Retailers are enhancing supplier requirements as they seek to align sourcing goals with industry demands and regulations such as the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), the Global Dialogue on Seafood Traceability (GDST) data standards, and other company-specific targets including low-carbon and deforestation and conversion free supply chains. These changes can be daunting for suppliers as they face competing requirements from different buyers.
In this panel discussion, representatives from FishWise, Wegmans, Global Seafood Alliance (GSA), Kumbatia Seafood, and Wholechain address strategies that retailers can take to simplify the adoption of data standards and traceability among their suppliers. GSA and Wholechain draw from experience with traceability and in digitizing audit data to discuss how suppliers can leverage interoperable technologies to achieve regulatory compliance, simplify data sharing and ultimately meet buyer requirements such as those that Wegmans has implemented. FishWise will bring to the conversation its insights from its use of data to support companies in assessing and mitigating supply chain risks. Kumbatia Seafood will offer a producer’s perspective from East Africa, sharing how they are navigating these requirements from the ground up and helping bring traceability to life in real-world sourcing environments. Audience members will come away with balanced insight into technologies that are enabling smooth data exchange between systems through integrations and GS1 and GDST data standards.
