Heidi Schuttenberg

Heidi Schuttenberg, PhD is the Founder and Executive Director of Blue Sanctuaries, where she advances sustainability, equity, and decent work in global fisheries through market solutions, policy reforms, multi-stakeholder collaboration, and capacity building. During her decade leading marine conservation at the U.S. Agency for International Development, she co-chaired the U.S. Government’s working group on countering IUU fishing and labor abuse in Africa, catalyzed the Seafood Alliance for Legality and Traceability, and worked to strengthen fisheries governance across 20 countries. At SENA, she will help share the Fisheries Governance Project’s Corporate Duties framework, which defines seafood companies’ responsibilities in preventing IUU fishing and labor rights abuses.
