Occupying 51,217net square meters, the event will take place in Barcelona from 6 to 8 May with an estimated economic impact of over 156 million euros for the city

Barcelona, Spain (5 May 2025) – Seafood Expo Global/Seafood Processing Global, the world’s largest and most diverse seafood trade event produced by Diversified, opens its 31st edition tomorrow reinforcing its status as a premier global event with 51,217 net square meters of exhibit space. Taking place at Fira de Barcelona’s Gran Vía Venue, the Expo will turn Barcelona into an international business hub and provide a valuable platform for the industry to conduct business on a global scale from 6-8 May.
Starting tomorrow, the 2025 edition will welcome 2,187 exhibiting companies from 87 countries and 68 national and regional pavilions. New participating exhibiting countries and regions include Albania, Egypt, Georgia, Greenland, Malta, Nigeria and Réunion. New national and regional pavilions for the 2025 edition will include Agencia de Gestion Agraria y Pesquera de Andalucia, the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil), Japan Federation of Soy Sauce Manufacturers Cooperatives, ProEcuador, Sri Lanka Export Development Board, Instituto Valenciano de Competitividad Empresarial, IVACE (Spain) and Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP).
The event will gather leading industry players from across the globe: suppliers of seafood, equipment, packaging and services, retail buyers, food service and distribution businesses, importers, government and industry leaders. For three days, the Expo will occupy Halls 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and the Galleria (between halls 4 and 5), at the Gran Via venue.

The event will continue its collaboration with Barcelona Food Bank, Banc dels Aliments, to collect seafood donated by exhibitors at the end of the three days. Last year, Banc dels Aliments estimated recovering around 15,600kg of product.
Connecting seafood professionals with education on the latest industry trends, global market developments and growth opportunities
The latest seafood products and trends will be displayed in the Seafood Excellence Global awards stand in the Galleria, between halls 4 and 5. The prestigious annual Seafood Excellence Global Awards Reception, which recognizes the best seafood products at this year’s event, will take place on 6 May at 6:15h in CC 5.1. Winners will be chosen out of the recently announced 40 finalists representing 15 countries and two grand prizes will be awarded for the Best Retail Product and the Best Hotel/Restaurant/Catering (HORECA) Product. Four special awards will be presented for innovation, convenience, retail packaging and seafood product line.
An extensive educational conference program will include the keynote address from Xavier Sala-i-Martin, professor of economics at Columbia University on 7 May at 12.15h at CC5, room 5. In his address titled, A New Uncertain World, Sala-i-Martin will lead a discussion on navigating the new economic uncertainties impacting the global seafood industry and the world at large, from international relations to tariffs and more.
More than 20 informative sessions will be led by over 80 international experts from the seafood industry to explore key issues around the current dynamics and emerging trends in the global seafood sector. This year’s conference and panels will explore topics such as traceability and sustainability, with sessions on decarbonization, sustainable packaging and aquaculture practices, global marketing, consumer and hospitality trends, among others.
