Cecilia Blasco is Director of SmartFish Rescate de Valor AC, a Mexican nonprofit dedicated to strengthening small-scale fisheries and connecting them to responsible seafood markets. Since joining SmartFish in 2016, she has led the scaling of the organization’s Value Rescue Model, which unlocks market incentives for sustainably caught and traceable seafood by working directly with fishing cooperatives, seafood workers, and buyers.
Cecilia has over 20 years of experience advancing solutions at the intersection of environmental sustainability, community well-being, and market systems. Prior to SmartFish, she worked at the Mexican Fund for the Conservation of Nature, the World Resources Institute, and the Global Environment Facility. She serves on the Board of the Conservation Alliance for Seafood Solutions, the FisheryProgress Advisory Committee, participates in the GDST Social Accountability Virtual Dialogue, and contributed to drafting Mexico’s national seafood traceability regulations through a Technical Advisory Committee.
