Audun Lem

Audun is from January 2026 the new chair of the International Board of FiTI, the Fisheries Transparency Initiative. He is from October 2025 also the chair of the Scientific and Technical Committee of ASSOITTICA, the Italian industry association for the seafood sector, and from June 2025 a board member of EAFE, the European Association of Fisheries Economists. Audun retired last summer from FAO after almost 29 years of service where he since 2014 was a Deputy Director in the Fisheries and Aquaculture Division.  During his FAO career, Audun was Secretary of the FAO Sub-Committee on Fish Trade, the main international body for discussion and recommendations on trade and market issues, and Coordinator of the GLOBEFISH project. During 2023-2024 he was the acting Secretary of the FAO Committee on Fisheries (COFI).

Among other tasks, he served as the FAO’s representative in the WTO Fish Fund and at GSSI.

Before joining FAO, he worked as an independent agribusiness consultant, project manager at Norway’s Embassy in Italy, and financial analyst at the Oslo Stock Exchange.

Audun has a Ph.D. in Agricultural Sciences from the Sea Fisheries Institute in Poland, a Master’s in Business Administration from Harvard University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the Norwegian School of Economics.
