Barcelona, 6 May 2025 – Seafood Expo Global/Seafood Processing Global, the world’s largest and most diverse seafood industry trade event organized by Diversified, has opened its doors today at the Fira Gran Via Venue in Barcelona for its 31st edition. The expo brings together seafood suppliers, equipment manufacturers and service providers from around the world to showcase their latest offerings. Attendees, including buyers and industry professionals, have the opportunity to explore cutting-edge innovations and learn about emerging trends in the global seafood sector.
Over the next three days, the Expo will reinforce its position as the world’s leading event featuring the latest innovations and trends in seafood as seen on the exhibit floor and represented in the Seafood Excellence Global awards. Winners for Best Product awards in the Hotel/Restaurant/Catering (HORECA) and Retail sectors will be announced today, Tuesday 6 May, at 18:15 in CC 5.1. Products submitted to the awards showcase a strong emphasis on cultural flavor fusion, innovative product formats and ready-to-eat convenience. Products such as seafood burgers, gyozas, seafood filled empanadas and tacos and Asian noodles are some examples of products that can be seen at the Expo and illustrate the industry’s drive toward creativity, global inspiration and consumer-friendly solutions.
Innovation is taking center stage with seafood companies developing creative and sustainable ways to repurpose underutilized resources into high-quality products. First-time exhibitors Crustalicious is transforming by-catch into premium fresh crab meat, SuperGround utilizes the entire fish to create ready-to-use paste that is ideal for high-quality food products and Ocean Company sustainably processes residual raw seafood by-products and upcycles them into food ingredients. Additionally, Neptune Elements introduces a range of seaweed-based products, including flavor-enhancing sprinkles and herbal teas, showcasing the growing potential of algae in consumer markets.
Increase in Aquaculture Technology and Equipment
On the Seafood Processing Global side, the growing importance of Big Data, advanced technologies and sustainable innovations is clearly reflected in the increasing presence of companies focused on aquaculture tech and equipment, such as Fishtek Marine, aquaManager/Integrated Information Systems, Ace Aquatec, Stingray Marine Solutions AS and Asakua. Organizations such as the Instituto Social de la Marina are supporting the sector through essential services for Spanish seafarers, both domestically and abroad.
