Sudari Pawiro currently works as the National Chief Technical Advisor, of the UNIDO (the United Nations Industrial Development Organization) Global Quality and Standards Programme Indonesia/ SMART-Fish Programme based in Jakarta. The GQSP is a large-scale programme to encourage systematic trade development along specific value chains by strengthening quality infrastructure institutions and service providers, enhancing the compliance capacity of private sector actors, particularly small-medium enterprises (SMEs), and creating a culture of quality among all stakeholders. GQSP Phase 2 works in 7 countries, including Indonesia, and it is funded by the Swiss government (SECO).
GQSP Indonesia Phase 2 (2023-2026) in cooperation with the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (MMAF) and the National Standardization Agency (BSN) supports selected aquaculture value chains, which are shrimps, seaweed and milkfish. The programme was launched in August 2023 and is an extension of the previous programme (2019-2023). GQSP Indonesia Phase 2 covers 22 districts and 11 provinces across Indonesia.
Prior to joining UNIDO he was attached as a Trade Promotion Officer at INFOFISH for more than 18 years (February 1996 – May, 2014). During his time with INFOFISH, Sudari has vast international experiences as fish marketing consultant in many countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America and also Europe under various fisheries development projects. He presented tens of papers in international and regional forums on fish trade and market related topics and wrote more than 30 articles in seafood trade and marketing in INFOFISH magazine. Sudari has good knowledge on global and regional fish markets and trade as well as local (domestic) market in Indonesia.
Before joining INFOFISH he was a fish inspector and HACCP trainer at the Directorate General of Fisheries (before it became MMAF), the Ministry of Agriculture, Indonesia from 1985-1996.
Sudari Pawiro holds a Master degree (MSc) in fish marketing from the University of Hull, England in 1991 and Bachelor degree in food science and technology from Bogor Agriculture University in 1984.
