Gemma Meermans Matainaho is a Papua New Guinean National who is currently serving as the Acting Director, INFOFISH.
Prior to joining INFOFISH, she served as a senior government officer, with the National Fisheries Authority (NFA) in Papua New Guinea for a period of 15 years. Gemma is an industry expert and professional, who has worked closely with senior executive management in not only formulating strategy, but also implementing it at the functional and technical level, in close cooperation, support and advocacy for industry partners and stakeholders at all levels. Gemma’s passion and professional area of expertise is in international business, fisheries trade and marketing, and she is a strong believer in the shared responsibility of sustainable fisheries management and its transformative effect across the socio-economic spectrum through enhanced partnership at all levels.
Gemma has a Masters in International Business from Monash University (Australia) and a Bachelor of Economics (Business Studies) from the University of Papua New Guinea.
