Syamsul Arifin

Syamsul Arifin (Sam) has served as the Country Coordinator for the Global Seafood Alliance (GSA) since 2017, overseeing activities across Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, and Brunei Darussalam.

With more than 20 years of experience in the seafood industry, Sam brings deep expertise in seafood processing, food safety, and sustainability. He is a graduate of IPB University (Bogor Agricultural University), where he majored in Seafood Processing Technology.

Sam began his professional journey with SGS in 2006, working as an Auditor. Over the years, he became a Registered and Certified Lead Auditor specializing in Quality, Food Safety, and Sustainability. His role has taken him across industries, assessing compliance and driving improvements in food production systems.

Beyond auditing, Sam is recognized as a keynote speaker, trainer, and thought leader, frequently invited to share his knowledge at both national and international conferences. His expertise and leadership have also been instrumental in supporting the Indonesian government, particularly the BPOM (National Agency of Drug and Food Control) and the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP RI), where he serves as a Technical Advisor for Food Safety and Traceability.

Passionate about advancing sustainable seafood and strengthening food safety systems, Sam continues to play a pivotal role in shaping industry practices and regulatory frameworks across Southeast Asia.
