Poull Brien specializes in media production for the seafood industry and sustainable supply through his company, Wild Fish Direct. Combining his passions for filmmaking and seafood, Mr. Brien educates and connects chefs, buyers and brands with sustainably certified / rated offerings from the world’s healthiest fisheries and cutting-edge aquaculture facilities. Mr. Brien’s twin passions for filmmaking and fish first came together in his early teens, when he wrote for two fishing magazines and hosted a regional outdoors show alongside talent including Ted Nugent. After graduating from the Radio/TV/Film program at Northwestern University, Mr. Brien spent 17 years working in media in New York City. He honed his focus on television shows like Catching Hell, a series he created and executive produced for The Weather Channel following the dangerous jobs of commercial spear fishermen. Mr. Brien also began working with notable chefs, executive producing Dish Out Of Water, a sustainable seafood travel concept for National Geographic featuring James Beard Award Winner Kerry Heffernan and Reverse Course, a sourcing, foraging and cooking series pilot for A&E featuring Michael Chernow (The Meatball Shop) and Sam Talbot (Top Chef). Inspired by his experiences and seeing the opportunity to create positive change in the seafood industry, Mr. Brien teamed up with Alton Peacock and launched Wild Fish Direct.
Mr. Brien is currently developing a new series concept on seafood and working with sustainable fisheries and aquaculture facilities to bring unique products to the US market.
