Kelly Kryc

Kelly Kryc, Ph.D., is the deputy assistant secretary for international fisheries at NOAA.

Dr. Kryc has extensive public sector, academic, non-profit, and legislative experience in energy and environment policy. Prior to joining NOAA in September 2021, she had most recently served as senior fellow for energy and environment at the Center for American Progress, and as director of ocean policy at the New England Aquarium in Boston.

Previous positions also include those with the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, the U.S. State Department, The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, and the U.S. Department of the Interior. She is also an adjunct faculty member of Georgetown University’s Science in Public Interest Program where she teaches science policy.

Dr. Kryc received a Ph.D. in earth science from Boston University, an M.S. in oceanography from the Graduate School of Oceanography at the University of Rhode Island, and a B.A. in geology and marine science from Middlebury College in Vermont.
