Dave is regarded and recognised as a sustainability expert in the seafood sector, across fisheries, aquaculture and supply chains. He has been involved in the development and support of responsible fishing, sourcing and sustainable seafood for over 25 years. Dave’s sustainability project work has spanned over 20 countries and has involved national and global multi-stakeholder assurance programs supported by leading retail and food service buyers. Dave championed producer group initiatives to develop organic, eco-label, ethical and responsible sourcing standards. Since the last two years, Dave has teamed up with experts across environmental and waste management, sustainability, standards development, accreditation and circularity to establish the Responsible Plastic Management (RPM) Program. RPM is a Global Assurance Directory and Trust Mark for organisations that wish to make positive steps towards better management of plastic and reduce its negative impact on the natural environment. The Program is strategically aligned with international assurance bodies including Lloyds Registered and Control Union and is on course to be regarded as the global go-to centre for plastic management recognition. Dave has a professional background in standardization, seafood and is an IRCA ISO Lead Auditor with international experience. A masters graduate of UCC, Ireland, Dave uses his scientific and seafood experience to address the challenges of sustainable seafood development and with an objective, measurable approach that can deliver benefits for business, society and protect our environment.
