Amanda Naaum


Amanda Naaum completed her undergraduate studies in molecular biology at the University of Guelph, followed by a PhD focused on molecular diagnostics for food authenticity and traceability at the same institute. Amanda then received a Commercialization Fellowship to continue her research in developing point-of-need testing for seafood species. She is currently the lead molecular biologist at TRU-ID Ltd., where she develops tests for use in certification of food and natural health product authenticity. Dr. Naaum is co-editor of the text "Seafood Authenticity and Traceability: a DNA-Based Perspective" and received a Young Scientist Award from the International Union of Food Science and Technology in 2016.
