Alanna works with FishWise's business partners and a diverse range of stakeholders to improve traceability and eliminate illegality in seafood supply chains. She represents FishWise in multi-stakeholder collaborations that seek to advance electronic interoperable traceability throughout the seafood industry. As part of this work, Alanna leads FishWise's efforts to help identify and standardize how key data elements for seafood products are recorded, requested and exchanged throughout supply chains. Alanna also works closely with FishWise's Business Engagement Division to incorporate traceability into sustainable seafood procurement policies and recommendations for FishWise's retail and mid-supply chain partners. Alanna holds a Bachelor of Science in environmental systems and a Bachelor of Arts in political science from U.C. San Diego, and a Master of Environmental Management from Duke University. She conducted her graduate research in the Spermonde Archipelago in Indonesia, where she evaluated the scalability of marine ornamental mariculture as an alternative livelihood strategy for artisanal fishing communities.
