Biography

Mary Smith has been working at the intersection of seafood sales, marketing, and sustainability for over 20 years, mostly for wholesale seafood distributors including Santa Monica Seafood and The Plitt Company. Prior to joining Inland, Mary founded Edible Alaska, an online and print magazine focused on Alaska's local food scene. Her 6 seasons as a commercial fisherman in Alaska inform her commitment to building a sustainable future for all fishermen. Mary holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Creative Writing from Northland College in Ashland, WI and an Associates Degree in Culinary Arts from the Culinary Institute of America.
