{"id":93736,"date":"2026-01-07T14:52:40","date_gmt":"2026-01-07T19:52:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.seafoodexpo.com\/global\/speaker\/chris-ninnes\/"},"modified":"2026-04-15T23:29:04","modified_gmt":"2026-04-16T03:29:04","slug":"chris-ninnes","status":"publish","type":"speaker","link":"https:\/\/www.seafoodexpo.com\/global\/speaker\/chris-ninnes\/","title":{"rendered":"Chris  Ninnes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Chris was appointed CEO of the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) in 2011 and has driven worldwide growth and recognition of the certification label as the organisation continues to set the standard for responsible seafood. \u00a0\u00a0<br \/>\u00a0\u00a0<br \/>In addition to qualifications in marine biology and fisheries management, Chris has a wealth of experience in the seafood industry ranging from being a commercial inshore fisherman to holding CEO and Chairman roles in industry-leading organisations. \u00a0\u00a0<br \/>\u00a0\u00a0<br \/>Chris is Chairman of the Global Shrimp Forum Foundation and is Chair of the Steering Committee of the Certifications and Ratings Collaboration; positions he has held since their inception in 2021 and 2015 respectively. \u00a0<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>He has recently stepped down from the ISEAL board after a six-year tenure as Chair. He also continues to engage with the Blue Foods Partnership initiative, a programme of the World Economic Forum, where he chaired the technical working group that developed their Aquaculture Roadmap.\u00a0<br \/>\u00a0\u00a0<br \/>Before joining the ASC, Chris was Deputy CEO and Director of Operations at the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) from 2006 to 2011, where he led the expansion of the MSC\u2019s technical and commercial work. \u00a0\u00a0<br \/>\u00a0\u00a0<br \/>From 2003 to 2006 Chris was Vice President of MRAG Americas, which followed his appointment as Technical Director for MRAG Ltd from 1996 until 2002.
