{"id":92004,"date":"2025-05-08T09:26:23","date_gmt":"2025-05-08T13:26:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.seafoodexpo.com\/global\/?p=92004"},"modified":"2025-05-14T09:32:03","modified_gmt":"2025-05-14T13:32:03","slug":"seafood-expo-global-seafood-processing-global-brought-more-than-35000-industry-professionals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.seafoodexpo.com\/global\/seafood-expo-global-seafood-processing-global-brought-more-than-35000-industry-professionals\/","title":{"rendered":"Seafood Expo Global\/Seafood Processing Global Brought More Than 35,000 Industry Professionals"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>With 51,217 net square meters of exhibit space, the 31st edition gathered 2,187 exhibiting companies from 87 countries, offering the seafood industry a unique opportunity to meet in person, conduct business and explore the latest industry trends.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The next Seafood Expo Global\/Seafood Processing Global will be held in Barcelona on 21-23 April 2026<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Barcelona, Spain (8 May 2025) \u2013 <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.seafoodexpo.com\/global\/\"><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.seafoodexpo.com\/global\/\"><strong>Seafood Expo Global\/Seafood Processing Global<\/strong><\/a>, the world&#8217;s largest and most diverse seafood trade event, closes its 31<sup>st<\/sup> edition <strong>with more than 35,000 seafood industry professionals. <\/strong>For three days, seafood suppliers and buyers around the world discussed the latest food trends and innovations and explored future solutions to the major challenges facing the sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>This year, the Expo brought together 2,187<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><strong>exhibiting companies <\/strong>from<strong> 87 countries<\/strong> and <strong>68 national and regional pavilions in more than 51,217 net square meters<\/strong> of exhibit space. Taking place at Fira de Barcelona&#8217;s Gran V\u00eda Venue, the Expo occupied Halls 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and the Galleria (between halls 4 and 5). <strong>The economic impact for the city is estimated to be more than 156 million Euros<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event received new participation from countries and regions including Albania, Egypt, Georgia, Greenland, Malta, Nigeria and R\u00e9union with new national and regional pavilions from Agencia de Gestion Agraria y Pesquera de Andalucia, the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil), Japan Federation of Soy Sauce Manufacturers Cooperatives, ProEcuador, Sri Lanka Export Development Board and Instituto Valenciano de Competitividad Empresarial, IVACE (Spain) and Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe exhibit floor was full of energy over the past three days as a truly international meeting place for the global seafood industry to achieve their annual business objectives,\u201d said Wynter Courmont, Vice President, Seafood at Diversified. \u201cExhibitors and visitors alike use this global platform to strengthen relationships with existing clients, connect with new prospects, build strategic partnerships and stay informed about the latest industry developments.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Seafood Expo Global<\/strong> exhibitors showcased the most recent innovations in seafood spanning from fresh, frozen, canned, value-added, processed and packaged products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We are getting very good exposure at this show and at the same time, we are also able to meet a lot of new clients and existing clients. We also see the product development from all over the world, and this is a showcase for us to understand what happens in the fisheries,&#8221; said Mohamed Ameen Sait, Managing Director, Sea Pride LLC of Oman. &#8220;We are getting a lot of inquiries and new clients, and at the same time, we also have access to a lot of different countries&#8217; information and products. We are now bringing our product to other parts of the world, and we can&#8217;t wait to maintain and upgrade our processing lines.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Exhibiting companies on the Seafood Processing Global<\/strong> side of the event featured companies representing every aspect of seafood processing, including packaging material and machinery, equipment and supplies for refrigeration and freezing, primary and secondary processing equipment, hygiene control and sanitation and quality assurance services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s no other way to access global seafood suppliers all in one place\u2026everybody we want to talk to is here at Seafood Expo Global,\u201d said Andrew Lively, CEO of Ocean Perfect, a live seafood logistics company. &#8220;I have been coming to Seafood Expo Global for over 14 years and there&#8217;s no question that every year, there are new things to see, new people to meet and new things to learn. (USA), RCD Hotels &amp; Resorts (USA), REWE (Germany, Turkey, Thailand, Hong Kong SAR), Sainsbury\u2019s plc (UK), Sodexo (Italy, UK, Spain), Sysco (Hong Kong SAR, Ireland, France, UK), Wegmans (USA), Wonderfield Group (UK) and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Latest innovations, industry trends, challenges and opportunities impacting the seafood industry<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yesterday,<strong> economist and Columbia University professor Xavier Sala-i-Martin<\/strong> gave a <strong>keynote address to the global seafood industry<\/strong> where he highlighted the key trends currently facing the global economy and explored their implications for strategic commodity sectors. In the address, Sala-i-Martin discussed the impacts of trade wars, tariffs, inflation and international conflicts and offered insights into navigating and adapting to new economic uncertainties, the importance of understanding evolving global dynamics and how to drive progress with advances in technology, innovation and AI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The conference program had more than 20 informative sessions led by over 80 international experts across the seafood industry. Topics explored key issues surrounding the current dynamics and emerging trends in the global sector including aquaculture, sustainability, traceability, regulations, seafood processing, seafood marketing, consumer behavior, market trends, tariffs, trade patterns and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The prestigious <strong>Seafood Excellence Global Awards<\/strong> recognized the best products represented at the Expo with Vi\u010di\u016bnai Group of Lithuania and Kalaneuvos Oy of Finland, winning the top prizes. The winners were selected from a list of 40 finalists. The top award for Best Retail Product was presented to Vi\u010di\u016bnai Group for its entry, Cold-smoked Atlantic Salmon with Truffles. Kalaneuvos Oy of Finland won the grand prize for Best HORECA (hotel\/restaurant\/catering) Product for its Trout Bacon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A reception and networking event, \u201cConnecting Women in Seafood<\/strong>\u201d took place on the second day of the event.
