New country participation will include Guyana, Uganda and Tanzania.

Seafood Expo Global and Seafood Processing Global’s success and growth through the years can be attributed to growing trade. Seafood and seafood products are some of the most traded food items in the world today, according to a recent report by the FAO (State of World Fisheries & Aquaculture). 60 million tonnes (live weight equivalent) of total fish and fish products exported in 2016 represent a 245 percent increase over 1976. During the same period, world trade in fish and fish products also grew significantly, with exports rising from USD 8 billion in 1976 to USD 143 billion in 2016. [1]

The success and growth of the event can also be attributed to the growing popularity of seafood worldwide. In per capita terms, food fish consumption has grown from nine kilograms per person in 1961 to 20.2 kilograms per person in 2015, at an average rate increase of about 1.5 percent per year. World fish consumption in 2030 is projected to be 20 percent higher than in 2016, the report states.[2]

Seafood Excellence Global Awards
On the evening of Tuesday 7 May, Diversified Communications will host the Seafood Excellence Global awards reception, where the winners of the Best Retail Product and the Best Hotel/Restaurant/Catering (HORECA) Product will be announced.
