On the first day of the fair (24th of April) at noon, Peru will officially open its pavilion in hall 7 (stand 1653 and 1749), one year after the official launch of the Super Foods Perú brand at Seafood Expo Global. The Export and Tourism Promotion Agency of Peru (PromPeru) and the Commercial Office of Peru will be honoured to welcome professionals of the seafood sector to the opening ceremony.
22 of the best Peruvian exporters in the fish, seafood and aquaculture sector will be present this year in the country’s 252m² pavilion. The diversity of the offer and the knowledge and experience of the exhibitors make a visit to Peru’s pavilion worthwhile.
Having overcome the negative effects of El Niño of 2017, the forecast for the export of Peru in this sector are highly positive. For aquaculture, there is an expected increase of 12%, driven by the increase in the production of shrimps (+10%) and trout (+9%), products that enjoy a steady increase and generate more than 240 million US$ in revenues each year. Additionally, due to the recovery of the marine area, a 28% increase compared to 2017 in the harvest of scallops is expected. With all these good expectations, PromPeru and OCEX Bruselas would like to invite European importers to meet Peruvian companies that will be exhibiting at Seafood Expo Global. In this edition, the powerful Peruvian delegation will show you the best of their products of the sea, such as: squid, giant squid, octopus, tilapia, anchovy, jack mackerel, southern Pacific hake, mahi-mahi, rainbow trout, scallops, prawns, crab meat, cocktail of seafood, preformed and breaded fish and seafood skewers.
This year, there will also be the opportunity to taste paiche, a relatively unknown species from the Peruvian amazon. This delicious species might be the next big thing in the seafood business due to its neutral taste and high content of protein.
