Recirculating aquaculture seems indeed to be a no brainer: great for the environment; technologically mature; promising for markets; profitable for investors. On the other hand, many hurdles still pave the road ahead of these projects: high capital intensity; unproven technology for big volumes; permitting and regulatory constraints, water issues and animal wellbeing among a few.
