HONG KONG, 15 August 2019 – Look no further than the 10th edition of Seafood Expo Asia for latest industry insights and market trends when it returns to Hong Kong this September. Diversified Communications, organizer of the annual exposition for the Asian seafood community today announced the exciting line up of educational programming and events.
Seafood Expo Asia takes place on 3-5 September at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, where seafood professionals gather to capitalize on unique opportunities to expand their industry knowledge, product offerings and business connections.
The Conference program kicks off on 3 September with the session “Legal Strategies to Reduce or Avoid Tariffs” presented by Isaak Hurst, Principal Attorney and Founder of International Maritime Group. The presentation will focus on tariff engineering — a legal trade strategy to tailor products to fit the lowest possible import duty.
The following session, “Prepacked Seafood: An Affordable Luxury”, will provide an overview of lessons learned in the EU fish retail programs. It will cover the key factors and species that transformed fish retail shelves in Europe and the ways to benchmark such learnings in China and Asia.
The first presentation on 4 September will address the trade implications of Brexit for the seafood industry. Industry veteran Jean-Noel Calon’s presentation titled “Brexit – Now What for the Global Seafood Industry” will evaluate the potential consequences Brexit has on the seafood industry value chain, especially in Asia.
The conference program will also focus on the topic of seafood sustainability and feature a dynamic speaker line up curated to engage this subject matter to prospective seafood buyers. The sponsored session, “Sustainable Success – The American Lobster Fishery” by Food Export Northeast, with American lobster harvester Brian Rapp, will provide an informative, interactive and dynamic presentation to demonstrate how lobster is harvested in the U.S. state of Maine. The subject will also be covered in other discussions such as “Wild Alaska Seafood: The State of Sustainability” presented by Hannah Lindoff, International Marketing Program Director for Alaska Seafood Market Institute, and more.
Two species-focused sessions, “Sustainable Murray Cod” and “Hakes Around The World”, will be highlighted in the program while industry transparency, quality and trust will be topics addressed in a series of four presentations.
“Seafood Expo Asia is an important annual gathering of Asian seafood professionals looking for the opportunity to gain diverse perspectives on today’s trends and developments” said Mrs Liz Plizga, Group Vice President of Diversified Communications. “Asia-Pacific is one of the biggest and fastest growing seafood markets in the world, and we are committed to delivering a program that best reflects the interest of the seafood industry.”
