Wild Atlantic Oyster is the brand representing the Wild Atlantic Shellfish company, owned and operated by the oyster farmers in Sligo Bay on Ireland’s North West coast. Each of the three farmers runs his own family business, cultivating oysters from the Lissadell Hatchery on the shores of Sligo Bay, and growing them to maturity for markets primarily in Europe and Asia. This Single Bay Management System has ensured that our oysters remain free of the common viral and bacterial infections, and consequently have low mortality. Through sourcing all our oyster seed from our own hatchery, the genetic strain has been maintained pure over the past forty five years. The main destinations served currently are Hong Kong, Mainland China, Malaysia and Singapore, as well as a range of countries in Europe including Netherlands, Belgium, France, Czech Republic and Germany. The company is currently investigating opportunities in Thailand, Philippines and Canada.
