PORTLAND, ME (USA) – August 21, 2019 – Diversified Communications, organizers of Seafood Expo Asia, announced that it will not hold the 10th edition of the expo this September 2019. The event was scheduled to take place on 3-5 September in Hong Kong, China.
The decision was made in response to the ongoing events in Hong Kong and careful evaluation of the current situation, pending demonstrations, and the impacts on the event.
“We are committed to delivering an event that best reflects the interest of the seafood industry,” said Liz Plizga, Group Vice President at Diversified Communications. “This decision was exceptionally difficult and one that we did not take lightly. There was enough information to indicate that these events would continue with potential impacts on travel and logistics.”
Every year, the expo brings more than 7,500 seafood professionals with exhibiting companies coming from more than 34 countries and visitors from 68 countries. “Based on travel advisories and feedback from our customers and buyers, we understand there are concerns over safety and travel,” commented Plizga.
“At the end of the day, we made the final decision with our customers’ best interest in mind,” added Plizga. Seafood Expo Asia will remain in Hong Kong in 2020. “We are dedicated to providing a platform for seafood professionals in this important market and are thrilled to be returning to Hong Kong
In the meantime, the team has been engaging with customers to address any questions they may have around the September cancellation.
