Eamon Clark Wins The 11th Annual Oyster Shucking Competition

Boston, MA – (March 20, 2017) – The winner of the 11th Annual Oyster Shucking Competition, held at Seafood Expo North America/Seafood Processing North America, has been announced.  Eamon Clark of Rodneys Oyster House, Toronto competed against 14 other contestants at today’s event.

Eamon Clark was the fastest shucker in this year’s competition.  He takes home the title over second place competitor, James Geoghegan of Maison Premiere Restaurant, Brooklyn, NY by less than 1.2 seconds.  Eamon Clark won the $700 prize for shucking a dozen oysters in an adjusted time of 1 minute, 17.77 seconds.

Charles Larkin of Mystic Oysters, Mystic, CT secured third place while David Burns of Rodneys Oyster House, Toronto and Trevor Munroe came in fourth and fifth place respectively.

This year’s competition was judged by Jeff Pearson of Taylor Shellfish, Brian Yip of Fanny Bay Oysters BC and Joseph A. Milano of Union Oyster House, Boston.

The 2017 Oyster Shucking Competition was sponsored by Kelchner Food Products.
