2017 Seafood Excellence Award Winners

Globe Export/Algues de Bretagne of Rosporden, France and Cozy Harbor Seafood of Portland, Maine, USA won the top prizes in the Seafood Excellence Global awards at Seafood Expo Global, the world’s largest and most prestigious seafood event.

The top award for Best Retail Product was given to Cozy Harbor Seafood for its entry, Lobster Meat, which features cooked tail, claw and knuckle Maine lobster meat that has been steam cooked and frozen with liquid nitrogen and packed in a full-color, retail-ready package. Globe Export/Algues de Bretagne won the grand prize for Best HORECA Product for its Marinated Seaweed. Fresh hand-harvested seaweed is cooked and then marinated in two flavors: Dulse with red onion and white wine, and green laver with Brittany shallots and cider vinegar.

Five special Seafood Excellence Global awards were also given. The award for Health & Nutrition was given to Marinated Seaweed from Globe Export/Algues de Bretagne. Vichiunai Europe won the award for Convenience for its product, Perles de la Mer. The award for Retail Packaging went to Sushi Mix – Visiopack from Delpierre. The award for Innovation was given to Golden Fresh for its product Kuro Prawns; and Cozy Harbor was presented with the Seafood Excellence Global award for Seafood Product Line for its retail-ready line of flash frozen lobster.

The winners of the 2017 Seafood Excellence Global awards were chosen from a field of 43 finalists representing 15 countries. The winners and finalists are on display in the Patio, Stand P-4619 – 4635 at Seafood Expo Global and Seafood Processing Global, which runs April 25 – 27.
